Now i want to change my job and apply for sr. level but as i get the calls they ask for Training & Development, Employee engagement, statutory compliances, Performance mgt. but i know nothing about these...I think I have wasted my career..i am so demotivated...as i can't look for change now bcause i know nothing..nobody is here to guide or from whom should i learn. I want to learn from HR manager or senior but nobody is here from my HR domain. I want to have practical knowledge.

Hi Monica,

First of all PLEASE do not despair.

We ALL feel demotivated at times, its OK, it is allowed.

However, please realize that it is only you who can pull yourself up, we can help and advise, but ultimately you have to do it.

Remember the proverb .... You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

Now, think of all that you have achieved.

Think of all the issues you have resolved, with or without help.

You will see that in fact you are quite good at what you do.

But now you want to progress, but you think you know nothing(?)

JD's are worded in a very technical manner, when you think about it and break down all the components, you will find that you actually know more than you think.

The way forward is to ensure your knowledge is up to date, to do that trawl through websites such at this and the net generally.

Get up to date and tackle the terminology.

If it is practical, ask to be moved to HO if not ask for further training either now or at your next appraisal.

Tell your boss you want to improve so that you can do a good job better.

In other words, Monica, take control, don't despair. We are all here for you and to help you. Keep asking...

I am certain other members will also respond.

Regards,

Harsh
