Hi Sujata,
There are two options and again fully depend upon the company descreation
1) Adjust the same on another day:- Most of the companies do this.
2) Nothing:- Don't adjust, employee loose the Paid Holiday.
You decide.

Hi Sujata,
Some companies will have fixed holiday calendar prevailing to their particular geography. They will fix their holiday calendar, no wonder the day falls on weekly off. In our company we pick 10 statutory holidays which fall only on the week day and would form a holiday calendar.
In our other locations like the US, UK & UAE, if the federal holiday falls in the weekend the next first working/business day will be a holiday. This is according to the their Labor regulation.
Apart from all these some companies in India will give one day to their employees as Optional Holiday. The HR department will fix 9 holidays and employee can fix any one holiday in the holiday list, according to the suitability. Many companies have increased their holiday calendar from 10 to 12.
Happy Holidays !!

Statutorily we need to declare 8 holidays a year for factories consisting 4 national and 4 festival holidays. We can not change national holidays but festival holidays can be substituted with other festivals.
