Dear HR Professionals,
the management of my company wants me to develop the mission and vision statements for the organisation so they wanted me to give them few statements to choose one out of them.
We are into Market research industry and at expanding stage with current size of small company.
Please suggest if you have any idea how to design these statements, from where to get sample statements or any website for help.
Please reply.

Googling both statements will unearth an abundance of both, which you can then use as a template or a reference.

A Mission Statement is created to encapsulate an organisation's REASON OF EXISTENCE. That is, why is the organisation there? Why was it created in the first place? Thus, the word MISSION.

There are dozens of ways to write Mission Statements depending upon the nature of business, the thinking/reasoning which spawned the business in the first place, its operational scope etc...

A mission statement's criticality is borne by the fact that McKinsey charges its clients upwards of a few lakhs of rupees to construct one - and organisations line up to use their services.

If I was to over-simplify an effective mission statement, it MUST include 3 Critical Elements:

a. What is the organisation's business (What does it do/sell)

b. Who is the organisation's target client (Who will buy what the business does or sells)

c. How are those target clients benefitted by the organisation's output (Why should they buy what the business does or sells)

If you can get this down into a mission statement, you're already country miles ahead of your competitors. You can have a look at <link outdated-removed>

Remember - a Mission Statement is NOT a glorified brochure or website copy.

It MUST ALWAYS be about providing a solution. A Mission Statement is for the client and NOT the business. That's why we have both - Mission & Vision Statements. Vision Statements are about the business and its forecasted achievements.

To make a Mission Statement, an organisation MUST always back it up with a carefully thought out Statement of Values. Why? Because, if the values underpinning an organisation are shaky or missing, it really doesn't stand much of a chance to remain true and honest to its Mission Statement - does it?

A Vision Statement is a collection of Organisational SMART Goals for a span of between 3 to 5 years (depending on industry type)

I hope my response has provided you some value.

All the Best!
