I joined my company in May 2011. I signed a bond that said i have to work 1 yr and cannot resign before that. In May 2012 i will be completing my 1 year. We have to give 3 months notice prior to resigning. I want to give resignation letter now cos then I can resign in June 2012 which means I have completed my 1 year. But do we have to wait until we complete 1 year in order to hand in 3 months resignation or can I hand in 3 months resignation now cos then I will be resigning in June which means by te time i resign I have completed 1 year of work.

You can put in your notice now, By the time you leave the company you would have successfully fulfilled the contracted.

Hello rooky10101,
Ramnaresh.V is right technically.
But I have found that, in reality, it's a bit of a grey area. Some companies could interprete this differently--that the resignation can be valid ONLY AFTER the bond is completed. If you resign as you mentioned--in April, 2012--pl note that the interpretation could be that you would be breaking the Bond, since you were not supposed to resign WHILE IN BOND. So the question of the notice period during the Bond-period doesn't even arise.
Since it's only 2 months from now, I would suggest that you wait & then resign in June, 2012. But what's the tearing hurry that you want to resign now?
All the Best.
