Dear Meenakshi,

I have copied your mail and my responses in blue for the benefit of other members who may be in a similar situation to you.

Dear Simhan,

Thank you for your email.

I have to study for my theoritical examination which is two papers : 1)Research methodology and data anylysis 2)Management thoughts and thinkers

I am a bit puzzled, as normally students have to pass the theory papers before embarking on MPhil dissertation. Have you submitted your proposal or synopsis for your MPhil or have you submitted the dissertation?

Since i am doing m.phil Management.. i believe the above exams will be based on HRM. but i dont have any clue which books to study since there is no course books for theory exams.

even i dont knw what would be the pattern.?

my dissertation topic is : Changing role of HRM in corporate world. which i have submitted for approval and still waiting for results.

Please go through the ppt slides attached. It contains references to books and websites which will be useful for Research Methods and Data Collection, etc. Please see Management Thought Leaders: Who Made the Breakthoughs? for about management thinkers

if you can help me to provide any study material or provide me a little guidance regarding m.phil exams.. any sample questions .. or study material ..

i just got names of some reference books to study from ..like : HRM BY ASHWATHAPPA AND PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT BY EDWIN FLIPPO

not much information

if you can help me by any means .. i would be greatful to you

Thanks

Regards,

Meenakshi

Hello,

First of all thank you so much for the above and apologies for the incomplete information about my studies... let me clarify ... i have completed my PGDBA in HRM and afterthat i still wanted to pursue further with my studies .. since i am working so i am doing m.phil thru distance education India . it's a one year course.

First i have submitted my synopsis which were approved in august and then with the help of guide I have submitted my dissertataion in october end and result awaited.

As per the information I have from university is that ..i have to appear for two theory exams and viva most probably in feb 2012 and on positive result i will be awarded.

As i have mentioned in my first post that no one near me or from the past family members has done m.phil so sometimes I go totally blank .. confused and need guidance for which i was looking for some help for studies for theory exams .. as how it goes....study pattern ..ways to format answers.. useful study material for m.phil Managment examination.

its always better to ask and gather information as to be on the right path .. cause I am really looking forwad and do not want to make mistakes..

many thanks

Best Regards,

I am sorry Meenakshi to say that I do notknow the format. The guide who helped you with the dissertation is the right person to ask. I must state that I am rather surprised that the university let you submit the dissertation without passing the theory examinations. In he UK, the general pattern is that one has to pass the theory exams before proceeding with the dissertation.
Wish you all the best.
