What are the basic or important qualities that an HR Recruiter must have?

Primary skill - should have a keen eye to find talent. Its like picking up diamonds from stones.
Next important skill - should be able to mould stones to useful shapes and get best productivity from any stone. Not all stones are diamonds and business has to go on even without diamonds.
Last but not the least - Some stones are not too hard to be called stones. They are psuedo. One such can make a few other productive stones useless. Need to be able to identify such non-productive and counter-productive stones from the lot.

Well, am not so sure of moulding stones but yes one thing I can pick out of it ... there are companies who proudly advertise with this statement.... We pick the stones and delive the diamonds ... well, not related to this subject.

A good HR person should have these qualities:

- should be punctual

- should be fair to ideas and negotiations

- should adopt the changes

- should take initiatives

- should have leadership skills and should be a team oriented

- should have good command over language and the company business

- should listen actively to his/her subordinates

- should carry a good body language and maintain a good personality

- should have good interpersonal skills

- down to earth and easily approachable

In addition to these qualities, i would suggest you to focus on these points...

- refer some web sources/books for 'Reading Body Language'

- try to read other person's un-said words

- bring an interaction into 'discussion' mode

- 'following-up' things/matters is a nice habit of a good hr person

- be more communicative and approachable

Remember, you are first face of the organization for a new comer. So keep cheering and value the company ethics.

A recruiter primarily deals with new resources and should be able to identify the most useful and recruitable of them all. It is not an inherited skill but a process driven exercise
necessary for a HR function. A recruiter should be able to read the urgency and find the best fit , may not be the best resource in the industry.

picking from Anil's guidelines I could differentiate the best employee of an organization including a HR recruiter. The best employee should have the following skills

I call them the Employability skills

They create JD’s & post listings, screen applications, reach out to potential hires, arrange & schedule interviews,& work with applicants to determine their strengths & weaknesses.
Some of the qualities a HR recruiter must posses are :
Great communication skills- a recruiter must be comfortable talking on the phone & having numerous face-to-face conversations throughout the whole day.
Payroll management- it a subject related to accounts & HR department. they have to work jointly & smoothly without making any mistake in processing.
Statutory compliance- in HR, it refers to the legal framework within which organisations operate. HR need to have basic knowledge of the same.
Industry relations- relation between individual or group of employee & employer for engaging themselves in a way to maximize the productive activities.
