Hi
Please read the following ellaboration:-
Attrition = employees left * 100 / (opening balance in a month+no of employees joined in a month+no of employees left + no of employees at the end of the month
say you have 100 employees at the start of the month, 10 new employees joined you during the month, 25 employees left in the month and you're finally left with 85 employees at the end of the month
Attrition = 100*100/100+10+25+85
the answer is 11.36%
I hope it's cleare to you now.

Just to understand this from practices purpose, I wanted to understand who are considered for exit here. For example would you include following category of employee in number of exit for attrition rate:
1. Retirement/ Death/ Permanent DIsability
2. Forced Exit/ Terminations
3. Resignation within say 60/ 90 days or probation/ training.

Hi,
There is only one exit door in the company whoever passes through it, is to be considered in calculating attrition, attrition doesn't exclude retiress, people terminated etc.

In the Formula for Attrition Rate = No.of People left in the month
-------------------------------------
Total Strength at the begining
of the month
We should not include the newcomers who have joined and left in the same month.
Also care has to be taken that an employee after long absenteeism resigns in the month , he should not be considered for calculation of Abs% ; otherwise it will have double effect.
