HRM is concerned with carrying out the SAME functional activities traditionally performed by the personnel function, such as HR planning, job analysis, recruitment and selection, employee relations, performance management, employee appraisals, compensation management, training and development etc. But, the HRM approach performs these functions in a qualitatively DISTICNT way, when compared with Personnel Management.

Well in my view, the fundamental meaning of HR is to take care of the the most needed resource in the organization i.e. people. How to align the people to give in the best to the business the organization is in. Basically it is to manage a person who is catering to the business, take care of his needs, demands, expectation,to fill in the gaps of manpower and take necessary steps by the means of PMS, Engagement and welfare to ensure that ppl are inclined to contribute in the best possible manner they can,.
