But it looks like it is pure Amin. Now i m confused. Shoud I continue with this or should i leave.

DECIDE WHETHER YOU ARE A ROLE MAKER OR ROLE TAKER. MEMBERS OF CITE HR NEED NOT BE SO DEMOTIVATED. RISE TO THE OCCASSION, EDUCATE ALL OF HRD VAST POTENTIAL. ALL THE BEST.

Hi,

I would say the first and foremost quality for a human resource professional is patience. From your words it is learnt that you have passed out in 2007 only and you might be an ambitious HR professional. But don't give up in 8 days... and come out of the shell ' HR Manager'.

Yours is not the only single company where HR professional is handling both HR and Admin. I think yours is a mid sized organization and obviously the investors can't maintain 2 separate professionals for HR and Administration.

So try to learn both Admin and HR functionalities, learn more about employees, productivity related issues , suggest people and productivity optimization strategies, HRD interventions ( please keep in mind that your plans should generate sufficient ROI) and try to be part of all possible activities in your organization.

Also learn exisitng systems, streamline existing systems or implement new systems. If the HR systems are outdated and still using manual processes, you can even suggest to automate HR processes.

All these things won't happen all on a sudden...so learn, experiment and enjoy work.

Feel free to share your experience here

best of luck in all your endeavors

Kunal,
I somehow disagree with my fellowmates who have responded.....learning is one aspect which one continues thru the course of life.
If you really wish to take up HR as your carrer then please take a step forward and look for a change or else this comapny shall never give you an opportunity. The day they grow they will hire another HR person and you will be forced to continue with Admin work- Reason to this is that as an admin person you would by then know the vendors so well and will get the work done qucikly as compared to a new person coming in your place so the Sr Management becomes complecent with YOU being in admin.
Just my thoughts.

i am coming with a live example, which took place in our org. when my senior joined in this org there is no HRD dept here. with all her efforts & achievements she convinced the top management and framed a HR Team by seprating from Admin.
go head my frend. dont leave the organization. implement policies which are similar to HR Functions in ur regular of activities.
all the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friend,

I too have come across such situation where the HR himself maintains both the department. But at the end it depends on you how you take up things to impress ur management to make up their mind to form an admin department. But it is always good for a HR person to know the admin activities initially. I would suggest you, if you are a fresher..its time for you to learn things .Have patience. Because handling these activities will bring lots of confidence and discipline with in you.Do not get frustrated. As a HR person, u should learn to stand in other's shoes too to be a better professional.

Once you are confident enough about handling these things , talk to your management and take the resposibilities of monitoring the admin deparment by hiring new people and download the responsibilities slowly so that you can concentrate on the HR aspects completely and you can monitor the admin actives time to time.

If you feel the management has some other reason to go against your growth...look for a better opportunity.

But i would always say...Patience pays!

Shilpa

Dear Kunal,
I also somehow disagree with my friends who have replied.
At the initial stage of ur career, the most important thing one needs is guidance and a platform on which you make your career.
In a mid-size organization like yours, where you will be the whole & sole of the HR & Admin dept, you won't get either guidance nor a platform. It will be all give-give and no take-take... and in an ideal setup of career, it should be give-take relationship.
So, better you undertand your long term needs and don't waste your most productive years in an organization which won't pay you in terms of knowledge and relevant exposure.

Thank You all for your reply.
I am still confused. The things are getting more confusing. I take care of all admin part like payment of bills, attending phonecalls, making vouchers, bookentries.... & so on all admin work.
i dont see any HR activities(except payroll, but again its part of admin also)
I dont knw where this experience will take to me. My friends are working on some good assignments in their companies related with HR. so when they tell all this 2 me i feel frustrsted. even i m called the office administrator .Personally I feel if I want be a HR professional i should change my job.
Should I?
