Dear Friends,
We have the statutes drawn very carefully - the factories act and and rules to ensure safety at work.
We found it not enforced at all resulting in Bhopal. We continue to have similar accidents on everyday basis though not severe as Bhopal but killing lakhs of workers every year. Statistics are not available and if available not reliable. Majority of these victims of industrial accidents are workers. Unless trade unions demand safety and work for it relentlessly the conditions will not change.
In your industry or to your knowledge what is the role of Trade Unions in Indsutrial safety today.
I am on to a very hot subject and this is only to begin with the deleberations.
Friends let me have your views please.
Regards,
