Thanks to both Rahul and Swapna. That is the first book I had read way back in 1979 when I was in school but the memories are still intact. From HRD perspective(basic purpose of HRD), chapter 29(149-154) covers the importance of being in the right profession. Some excerpts:-

Page 149—A man can succeed at almost anything for which he has unlimited enthusiasm

Every boy is a gambler when he chooses a vocation. He must stake his life on it.

When one is young, one tends to be money centric and may not understand the deeper meaning of what Carnegie wrote. He has given two three good examples as well but one has to experience "square pages in round holes" within the framework of one's body to realize the pain. I still don't expect the young generation to understand but since we have the technology, I have added as many links as possible(Relevant links) if somebody would care to look- http://mypyp.wordpress.com/

Page 150-The tragedy is that so many young people never discover what they really want to do. Nobody is to be pitied as the person who gets nothing out of his work but his pay

This is the sad reality today as well if you go my the number of links in the above blog and real life examples:-

Carnegie died in 1955 and even after 50 years so clear cut solution has emerged or so many Americans would not be researching the subject

By any chance, if anybody has his other classic "How to win friends and influence people", I would like to have that please. Thanks

I came across this thread and thought of mentioning another 'how to stop worrying' ebook. Not same approach nor length as Dale Carnegie, but seems a solid perspective.
