Hi Friends
one of my friend was interviewed (technical)telephonically by an MNC ,
2 months before ,
my friend was hoping for the next round , as he had a real good interview , but no communication was made to him ,
now all of the sudden after 2 months , the HR called in and asked to
appear for a personal interview ,
i am not an HR expert , but i think in these 2 months , they might have searched for more suitable guy , but may be results were not promisable ,
and hence i think my friend is the nearest candidate suited for this job ???
Although yet he has to appear for a personal interview.
Please tell what the expert HR's in this forum think ?
regards

Dear Nischal,
Tell your friend to find out the market position of that company. What is the brand repute, how the company is known in job market etc. If possible tell him to talk to current and former employees also. This will give him fair idea of the company's culture.
For two months there was no communication from the company. This non-communication factor is little surprising and taken to be note of.
For Ravishank: - Be cautious before you make sweeping statements like "All HR people are Management crooks so beware". This stereotyping does not augur well.
Ok...

Guys, you two are quite over critisizing the situation. The situation that u two mentioned is quite true, that after one interview HR makes a call after 2 months or 4 months. There are many processes and decisions that are needed to be done before taking any candidate on board. Candidates interpret that HR is delaying the situation. But my question is when HR dept is deputed to recruit new employees, then why should they delay the process.
Second point is you two are saying that HR made a call after 2 months and 4 months in both the cases. And Mr. ravishankar is suggesting his friend mr. nischal to demand a high CTC or quit. My question to both of you is "Are you both that knowledgable, skillful that, any company should recruit u just like that? If yes, then y u both were sitting without a job for so many months?
When u will come in corporates, u will come to know about the thousands of activities that are carried out before a company recruits any candidate. It might take time as less as 1 week and maximum of 2 months.
I also accept that, in some cases, what you have mentioned can also be true. But its not the same all the time. And you should be thankful that the opportunity again came to u bcoz thye company find u capable enough to work with.

hi,
Well i would say that its just dependent on situation to situation.
Their could be many reasons that effects the situation intentionally or un- intentionally such as Might be that position get closed n didn't get the exact match and want to replace the current one from another, might be their is need of more team or want to expand current team size, might be
that position got freeze or on-hold, so many reasons could be their. If you are still looking for some job change then its up to u that u want to apply for the same or not. Rest be +ve.
Rest i m partially agree with "Ms.Purnima" that no one has right to blame HR in this regard and as i already told their could be many reasons behind that situation.
An Important thing i would like to say that this is a vicious circle that Company needs employees and employees need companies. So, we all have to respect each other's work.

A position comes up in an organization based on the requirements given by the technical team / marketing / consulting team etc.
HR will post the advertisement, use the criterias and then shortlist candidates for interview. There are multiple chances the requirement itself is closed due to the non committing client, project closure etc
How can anyone hold HR resposible for that.
I strongly resent that statement of Ravishank. I dont think Mr Ravishank has any right to comment on a HR person like that when he himself advices people to demand high salary and then walk out. How professional will be a person who exploits the situtation and calls others crooks.
Let the readers in this forum decide about that.

Mr. Ravishank, my apologies, if I have said anything in offense. But u could have mentioned the complete situation.that u r working some where and being employed,u r looking for a job. Its a general tendency of freshers who blame company processes or some particular department, in situations of rejection. thats y i made an assumption above that u r jobless.
But if u are seriously thinkiing against HR then I cant help u out. I also explained in my earlier conversation that, there are many factors which affect the recruitment cycle. For instance, i will explain u with an example: suppose u appeared for an interview in a company. Some department head took ur interview and asked u to wait for HR to get back to you in case of further proceedings. Like wise, he might also have taken interview of some other candidates. Now in the candidates rating u might be on 2nd position. So 1st HR will contact the 1 st person and then, will try to complete all the formalities with him. Now this process itself takes minimum 1 week to max 1 month. Again there is a problem in this process. Adding to the problems of HR sometime, candidates refuse to join at the last moment. In this situation, the person rated 2nd would be contacted. and if 2nd also refuses, then the 3rd would be called or again new round of interviews would be conducted with fresh CVs. Now what i explained to u, is a background process. Do u expect HR people to give explaination to all the candidates about what's happening inside the organisation.
And I dont think so that u r in HR, if u had been, u could have understood the process.
dont be critical, just try to analyse the situation, it'll help u in future. MAy be such situation wud come in ur career that, u have to keep a candidate on hold, bcoz u being an HR would never like to lose a good, capable candidate for ur organisation.
The comments u posted are from the candidates side. So my request is, try n understand ur own profession rather than blaming it.

Mr Ravishank has no idea how the HR works. Please don't use such language (HR being crooks) on this forum. You may not agree with certain things, but there are better ways to show displeasure than use such language. And if you hold HR people with such high esteem i see no reason why you are a part of this community on this forum. We should say tata byebye to you

Hi to all
In this regard I would like to answer that this is not a matter of joke or fun to hire a candidate without any prior discussion with the management for a company and with the concerned department. In recruitment cycle lots of processes are coming under it so I thought for that it might have took this much time.
Ya I agree that 2 months waiting is pretty lengthy time but sometimes situation would n' allow the company to hire new candidate immediately.
Rest Ms. Poornima is right.
