hi all,
Currently I am working in chennai in a foreign based Bank (Back office operations)as an officer by designation. i I have completed myMBA in marketing and finance(2009),But i have done my UG in BSc Zoology(2004) only, experienced people says that it is very difficult to get a core finance job bcse i have no base in commerce field, companies are recruiting CAs, ICWAs etc and if they prefer MBA finance ,surely they will specify BCom with MBA Finance.
But I have a passion for HR jobs, but the thing is I dont have an HR Specialisation with me to get a good post. But I have 2 yrs work experience in admn after my UG ,in a small firm (Rubber scrap processing factory).
so I want to enter into HR Field and I want to do an HR course, but i am not sure from which institutes /universities HR course will help me to get placed in a good position in HR.
I heard abt this ISTD Diploma in HR , Is this course really help me to mould my career in HR field in India or Abroad? Where can i apply? Is it good for me to do ISTD diploma in HR ratherthan doing a hr corse from any other university.
I expect your valuable guidance and suggestions as early as possible
to proceed further
if any one knows the details plse send me the details to my e mail
thank you

Hi Jagallal,
I think you are bit confused with your career. May be you have not decided till date that wahat exactly you want to do.
you have completed Bsc Zoology, then MBA Marketing and Finance, and now after having work experience you again want to switch your career in HR.
I have one single question in my mind, if you can clarify it, it will help us both to discuss on your career path.
My basic question is, why you choose marketing and finance in your MBA , when you gave interest in Hr and at that time you already have work experience in Admin in a small company.
one more thing, why you choose to do MBA after having degree of zoology. which of your decission is wrong (A) the Bsc zoology or (B) the MBA marketing and finance?

Hi Nipuna,
Thank you for your comments, I expect your sincere comments in future also.
Yes you are right , i am little bit confused abt my career, so I sincerely asking your guidance for taking a decision , PLSE read this fully and help me
Actually what happened is after my graduation in Bsc zoology (2004),Eventhough I got the medical entrance ,I dont have enough money to continue my studies, but I have a great fire in my mind to study more and more and to take my post graduation. Normally that fire should gone away when years passed, But for me its a great dream in my mind . Thats why after three years ie , in 2007 , I decided to do my post graduation ,
again I came to know the pathetic fact tthat we cant do anything with this MSc , otherwise we have to do MSC Zoology, then BEd , then NET/SET etc and after all these we have to give donation of 8 to 10 lakhs for getting a job. (Remember already i have lost 3 yrs)
I know that this should be my last course and i want to do my MBA, because i have the capabilities and I believe that this should be a turning point in my career, offcourse M
Reason for doing MBA finance & marketing - I thought that i can do HR as part time, but it is difficult for me to do a finance course as part time after my mba , Bcse i dont have base in accounting.

Hi Jagallals,
it seems that you are not bit confused but very much confused till date regarding your career. You want to earn lot of money but don't know which profession will be the best for you.
if you want to pursue your medical then why you choose Bsc. Zoology, the wrong step started from there only.
and the funny part is you thought HR part time and finance and marketing full time MBA, great!!!
I must appreciate these kind of confused students.
Remember one thing in your life - don't try to cross a river with two legs in two different boats. your case is same here.
Nobody thinks like to cover all the 3 different diversifications in MBA (marketing & finance full time and HR part time)
Anyways now we cannot crib on all the wrong decisions but have to do good out of it.
first of all you have to decide that in which direction you want to focus on your career (Marketing / Finance / HR)
If it is marketing OR Finance, then its OK. You don't have to think much about it, only you have to develop practical skills, which comes with experience.
Since you don't have any finance background you can do marketing, its the easiest one, but mind it, it requires hell lot of physical stress.
you are working in a bank, so let it be a finance job because you already have some experience of it.
Now coming to HR, it is also not easy job dear. one thing that I want to clarify you that, passion is different than earning a good amount of money.
In HR you will not get that much job opening that you can get in Marketing or in Finance.
In the same way, salary packages are also very less if you compare them with marketing and finance jobs.
Now if you want to go for HR career, you have to have some qualification (that you can do part time MBA HR from symbiosis, or some other part time institutes.) and some work experience. In this case all your last experience will not be counted.
Remember one thing, admin work is very much different from HR, both are as different as there is a difference between zoology and botany subjects.
Now regarding you ISTD diploma, it is only for the people who wants to build their career in Training and development. People who wants to be HR trainer (soft skill or Technical) they do this diploma course. And if you want to be a trainer, then also you have to have some work experience in Core HR field, where all your past experience will not be counted.
So now you decide what you want to do.
If you need some more details/suggestion, feel free to write here.
