Dear Users of CITEHR
Let me know that what kinds of HR manager are there in HR department of any company. As I am working in a company where one is HR head, other is grooup head Learning & Development. There are mangers, HR manger - Recruitment, HR manager - Operations, HR manager - salary processing, HR - Compliances, etc...
So I am a little bit confused if I have to make career in HR from where should I start.
And one thing more I want to pursue one year PG course in HR through distance mode. Kindly update me the name of institution/university who is taking least fees and run this course. Somebody has suggested me Pondichery University. Should I go for Pondichery.

Dear Adil,
Irrespective of any discipline in HR, it all means the same...
Since as you have said that there are many HR managers for various functions, i would suggest that you go into any one of them. THere would be no harm in working in any feild in HR. But also keep knowledge of various functions of HR in your company.
AS far as your distance educations for HR is concerned i would suggest you that you can apply for symbiosis....because doing distance learning from a well known reputed institution will be reflected in your resume.

Dear Adil,
It seems you are working with big company, where they have 'HR Manager' for all HR aspects. As rightly conveyed by Mr. Ankit, all means the same, Main area is 'HR domain', in small to middle level organization may be one or two person usally handle all these functions.
Coming to your Career progression, you need to introget yourself in which HR domain i.e. Recruitment, T&D, Pay-roll etc you would like to build your career, but at the same time you should have basic knowledge of all other domains.
For Distance learning, its very important to chose well known University like Symbiosis, Sikkim Manipal etc, doing distance learning from unknown / less familier uni. will not going to add much weightage to your credentials.

Hi adil,
It is important for HR to participate in growth of organization by helping others to improve their performance and keep themselves motivated. Even without having technical knowledge about a function, HR can have important say in it and thus become a welcome figure everywhere in the company.
I found this site where I see many useful things we discuss. Hope that it's useful for you: HR manager job description
