Dear Jagdish,
Ask your friend to get the pf amount transferred to the new pf account, if he is joining in some other company - it is advisable.
If he is intended to withdraw, still, please tell him that he will get only epf amount of both him and employer's share and not fps amount of employer contribution.
The procedure is :
Procedure to withdraw the pf amount

step2: you can fillup all the details about yourself and fill the bank account coloumn with your savings bank account.
step3: Open a savings bank account preferably with nationalised bank - mention the account number inthe forms 19 and 10C - also attach a xerox copy of the first page of the passbook(depicting the bank account number, branch location etc.,)
step4:you send the complete set of forms with enclosures to the previous employer for forwarding the forms to pf office

dear umesh,
my advice is to get the pf amount transferred to the present employment, since it has so many benefits in the longrun. If you are not employed presently and you may get transferred whenever you got a new job. If you are very much particular in withdrawal, you can do so-nothing will prevent you.

dear kranthikumar,
you cannot withdraw partially.Instead you can avail advance from pf on completion of 5 years. The FPS contribution of employer only cannot be withdrawn( in final withdrawal case only) if you have 6 month service only. If you cross six months you can withdraw both EPF AND FPS amounts.

Dear kranthikumar,
You will get the entire amount of your contribuiton and employer's contribution on the EPF account-with interest as on date. In case of FPS (Family Pension Scheme) you will get a proportionate amount only on withdrawal, since it is provided for Pension purpose only.
