Hi,

I got an offer from a top MNC in October 2008. Based on that offer, i put my paper.

I have already told them that my notice period will be 60 days(non buyable & Non negotiable) and i can join by Dec 29th 2008. After 1 month( in Nov), they told that i can join only after Background Verification(BV) Process which may take about 9 - 12 weeks. They didnt inform me regarding the BV at the time of offer. Then by december, i even got relieved from the previous employer as per my terms. In January 2009, they even took away the Variable Allowance from my CTC. I got compromised because its my dream company. Now (in Feb 2009 after waiting for 1 month) when i ask the HR regarding the Joining date, he told that my Background Verification is cleared but they can update my employment only by April 2009. Even now they are not giving guarantee that they will let me know the joining date by April. What can i do? Atleast they must have told regarding this delay when they give me the offer. After getting relieved they are delaying. Now i dont have anyother offers and not getting calls these days due to the current market situation and financially handicapped.

Is this a good HR practice for such a big company?

Anybody please let me know what can i do? I need your help.

Thanks,

It is always better and safer that Put resignation letter only after receiving appointment letter with joining date from new company.
Anyways Keep hoping for the best and start searching for the new opportunity.
Good Luck!

Hi,
Even if asliindianhere has the copy of the offer letter what can he/she do with that? Even if we go for a legal option it wont work out.
Its one of the learning experience in life. Better try to look out for another job soon.
All the very best.

Thanks Radhika for your info. But the appointment letter will be given only when u join the company rite? Here the problem itself with the joining date. They r just postponing the joining date which i have told them (Dec 29th 2008).
