Hi,

Recently in one of the IT organization a candidate with 4.5 yrs of experience was interviewed and he had gap of almost 8-9 months.
Also he had done quick switching over which made his experience 4.5 yrs which ideally should have been 5.5 yrs.
In the organization in which he had appeared for interview he cleared the test and round of interview.
The candidate had valid argument for switching over :career aspirations he had and word he was given during recruitment which was not fulfilled and seems that there was no hope either.
Also the interesting argument candidate had :" In western world people work for 6 months and enjoy the life of next six months .... so does that mean they are never eligible to get jobs again ?It is not so... people work to make money to enjoy life and do get jobs again and they work thus keeping life balance."
what should be the answer to such question in true sense?
saying that boss this India and such things do not happen here would be wrong when we are working based on best practises developed by the western world in IT/software development ....
How ethical is on part of recruiter to tell candidate that his skills do not match after clearing the test and interview ? Is it proper on part of recruiter to treat a person having good experience through such insult when he has been called through referal ?
Should the candidate be recruited or not recruited ?

Please guide.

Of course he can be taken if he fufills his eligibilty criteria n when he clears rounds of interviews.
Stability of any employee cannot be ensured just by his past experience. Its is possible that the employee might not be happy with ur company polices or with any other factor, and is forced to leave. Plus anybody gets lured by a better offer.
As far as selection is concerned an employee , in my opinion cannot be rejected just coz he had a gap in his career. If he smartly passes all the tests required for that position the judgement shud be then in his favor.

A suitable candidate should be recruited on the basis of Credentials as well as merit and if the candidate is fit for the said position there should b no qualm about hiring him... Khan.

thanks for your guidance. as main concern is huge gap of almost a year in career which is very much bothering the Indian HR system.I feel its time people change their outlook in India in this globalised world
