In one day a human being breathes oxygen equivalent to three cylinders.
Each oxygen cylinder on an average costs Rs 700, so in a day one uses Oxygen worth Rs 2100 and for a full year it is Rs 7,66,500.

If we consider an average life span of 65 years; the costs of oxygen we use become a staggering sum of Rs 500,00,000.
All this oxygen is derived free of cost from the surrounding trees.
Very few people look at trees as a resource and there is rampant tree cutting going on everywhere which should stop.

PLEASE PLANT A TREE!

Dear Mr. AVS
Good Morning and have a great day ahead
Your message is an eye opener, for those who are cutting the trees for no cause. We must concentrate on this aspect also. The Government must insist to those apartment builders also for each flat they construct they must provide 2 trees in the land they construct and the tree they plant must not damage the environment or ground water in any way. Even the Municipal Corporations can supply the sapplings free of cost to those who are interested in planting such trees on waste lands and in existing parks and their own lands. Even if they issue fruit bearing tree saplings will give interest to those who are planting the trees in their own premises.
Thank you Mr. AVS for creating awareness to all our members.
God bless you Sir.

In these days of everything being 'counted', this is a very good co-relation of the importance of Trees vis-a-vis Money--in the language that most understand.
Bhaskar--I think the problem is NOT the lack/absence of Laws/Regulations for tree-felling/cutting, but the Implementation of the already existing environment laws. This would lead one to the same issue all over again--corruption in public/government spending.
As long as the sights are on short-term solutions to inconvenient issues [in this case, the obstruction the tree(s) may be causing to some construction activity & in the process some lowly contractor making a bit of money by selling the wood] forgetting the long-term goals/consequences, we only prove the Bible Quote right repeatedly: As you Sow, so you Reap--albeit in a not-so-desirable way.

Dear AVS

Its an wonderful information and thanks a ton for sharing. Truly its an EYE-OPENER.

Its not just about OXYGEN its also about WATER as well. You may not find sufficient amount of rains in those areas where TREES are missing. Its natural phenomenon. We should emphasize on RAIN WATER HARVESTING SYSTEM which is a great success in TAMIL NADU as it is promoted by the GOVERNMENT itself.

One side DEFORESTATION is going on and other side WATER is being WASTED without even giving a thought "what may happen in the nearest future?". We all are worried about the GENERATION associated with our OFFSPRING. We haven't understood the TRUE MEANING of "FUTURE". It is not something which, we are about to come across after years/decades but, it our "IMMEDIATE TOMORROW". We never knew what may happen TOMORROW, its unpredictable. Hence we need to REACT IMMEDIATELY for our FUTURE. If our FUTURE is SAFE then, i am sure it will be SAFE for our OFFSPRING as well.

Its time to educate individuals about our TOMORROW.

With profound regards

In world bank sponsored tenders for road development, there is a spl clause on tree cutting. As a replacement of a tree to be cut, seven new saplings are to be planted. Pon

Thank you S.A Khadir for your very extensive and nice feedback.
People ingnore the fundamentals of Nature.
They act for today's 'convenience' and invite a 'catastrophe' tomorrow.
Only God can save Mother Earth by providing a 'Super Green' Anti-Virus program in the brains of the affenders.
Thanks again for sharing another meaningful message.

Thank you Mr. Dipil for your feedback.

As said by you Mr. Sateesh the problem is not our law, it is our corrupted leaders (Netas) who spoil one who leads the team for breaking the law and bending for their convenient, and even they will interpret the law by reading the lines in between and creating new law by adding the word "however", further with their created laws. In defence there is a certificate we have to issue to the Ministry of defence, "There is no trees available and no trees are cut for developing the land for Military usage/construction of ______ Building". Why such certificate of undertaking cannot be obtained from our builders and developers, while issuing the NOC for construction work, approval by Municipal authorities, etc.

Yes Mr. Khadir, in Childhood, in our 6th standard we have studied about the usage of forestation. In that due to De-forestation, our land water resource will go down and the world will lose even rainfall and water resource will completely dried in due course and we cannot imagine a life without water, as our culture got developed alongside of riverbanks and our civilisation got developed only with water and its surroundings. Even the soil also will be spoilt by erosion due to wind, water and due to which we cannot get the fertile land.

Eventhough Mr. Pon, we are planting 7 saplings in place of 1 tree, what is the success ratio for becoming tree, who will water those saplings, who will secure the sapling from animals and kids who will simply pluck it and throw away those saplings. Will the Government take care of the trees whatever cut by the road contractors. If they plant trees in the median as like Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and water it regularly, then it will be accepted. Otherwise, it is not possible for any contractors to take care of saplings whatever they are planting. The AP Government is charging Rs.200/- per commercial vehicle for every two years as Green Tax, which is innovative idea for taking care of trees being available in roadside and in median in highway.

I expect this message must reach more members

Dear Mr. Raghu
There is a proverb "Simple words will not cook food". You have achieved and transformed the talk and thought into actions by creating an association of members for Plastic Free Vellore. Our Action speaks louder than our words. So please give the details in a new thread and our learned members will give so many ideas about how to eradicate and how to take this campaign to our people like that they will give many ideas.
All the best and God Bless you Sir
