Hi Shilpi,
I was just watching a movie- Brooke Ellison Story (based on real story) about the life of a girl who got paralyzed at the age of 11 and is currently pursuing her Phd.
I also know of Preeti Monga who happens to be a blind lady and is a successful entrepreneur, trainer and an aerobics instructor.
Most importantly, I know myself who was diagnosed with Bi-polar disorder at the age of 21 and is now a behavioral trainer and a counselor. You may read my story here:

I don’t know what you are going through, but believe me, you have the power to come out of it.
To start with, I want you to use the resources mentioned on this website:

Hi

To make a conscious effort to feel positive you could attempt the following

First overcome the negative emotion (if the same is the prime reason for your inability to be positive)

Try to take your mind of the stress (the problem would remain till you manage to objectively find a solution once you reduce your stress) by deliberately and consciously doing some activity like walking / clearing the clutter on your desk / reading a humorous article or joke

Share your stress with a close friend or partner or spouse or relative. Opening up and sharing always reduces the stress and detoxifies you from negative emotions.

Identify the source of your negative emotion. Many times we do not interpret the issue on hand correctly, jump to extreme conclusions and misunderstand tone and language to mean trouble on hand.

Look at the problem objectively. You would surprised that far too often the negative emotion is linked with the perceived problems, the possible consequences and fear. In reality the negative emotion is you trying to visualize the worst case scenario so that your mind tries to prepare for the worst case scenario.

Next motivate yourself to seek out positives.

Be result focused not problem driven. Change your attitude to see an issue as a challenge that you can meet, not as a problem that you have to cope with.

Visualize the various positive possibilities that would emerge when you overcome the challenges.

Break down challenges into sub challenges and then it would be less daunting and you will suddenly be motivated because the smaller bits are relatively easier to cope with.

Whenever you feel low and a depressing feeling creeping in, imagine the positive comments, the appreciations you have received and the various high points of your life. These will inspire and motivate you and make you feel stronger.

If you have the time and inclination I would also invite you to visit my blog https://actspot.wordpress.com/tag/be-positive/ ; perhaps you can get some more relevant inputs from it.

Trust these suggestions would help you realize that you have every reason to remain positive.

Best Wishes

Dear Shilpi,

You have made your query very short that is bereft of any detail.

Two senior members have responded very well taking care to provide as much information as possible. Obviously they have taken a lot more time to prepare their carefully drafted answers with a view of giving the best.

In the first place I would contest when you say NOTHING works out.

What were the 'things' tried before the thought of 'nothing' came into mind.

In any situation HOPE should always remain till the end (irrespective of the result).

This way of training your thought process will make you be positive all the time.

While writing this I am not trying to create any fiction.

Perhaps you would have read Stephen Covey's Seven Habits book.

Viktor Frankl is serving his term in jail is Auschwitz.

His friends, relatives, kith and kin had already walked into the gas chambers to become part of Hitler's infamous history. Death was imminent at any moment. He kept his thoughts positive with the unflinching thinking that he will survive and one day go to the world to tell what all trauma he went through. He did survive and went to the US to unfold to the world the horror-some tales.

I am sure our own anecdotes will pale in comparison with those of Auschwitz.

So from now on have 'hope' as the lever, to keep your positive attitude high, all the time.

Hi Shilpi, all such positive & negative states are the perceived states of our mind. if you want to stay cool and get rid of depression, you have to understand this thing that you are a normal human, and all the happenings are normal. you have to e happy on the 80% of your effort and stop worrying about the remaining 20%. I would like to suggest that must read few lectures on proactive approach. Thanks
