Hi there.
Thanks for the comments. My company doesn't take into account the leave without pay when calculating bonus. However, a friend of mine shared with me that her company practices the other way round. Their reason is that - by not accounting for the leave without pay, staff may feel demoted.

as pere the payment of bonus asct, the bonus is paid on the earnings.
earnings are basic and DA.
even one applies leave (sanctioned and should be in his credit) he has earned the salary, hence he is eligible. if he is treated as absent, he has not earned hence not payable
I did't get what do you mean by saying unpaid leave
pl clarify
other things are as calculations laid down by the payment of bonus act
if u require more clarification contact me

hi. the unpaid leave thatyou're referring to here is when you're still not entitled to apply for it (since still under probation) and/or unpaid leave taken when all your actual leave entitlement has been fully utilized.

In my previous organization we were deducting Bonus amount for unapaid leave. There, unpaid leave meant, when you have taken execess leave than your entitlement.
Same rule applied for PF dedecution also.

well, it’s taking leave without being paid. OR it’s when you have fully utilized your annual leave and the leave without pay to take into action. Did i manage to get you to understand?

Hi Shefali Saxena, Thanks for the feedback. I guess in India there are rules to deduct the unpaid leave from the bonus. What do you think? Is it best to do that way? Cheers.
