Hi,
I accepted an offer of employment in a MNC but they rejected my candidature 2 days prior to joining date. The reason they mentioned is that I failed to meet their requirement for Pre Employment Screening verification ( in simple terms background verification) with respect to my last employer. However, when I asked them to cite the requirement they refused to do so. Moreover, I contacted my last employer to ask them about any verification, they denied any enquire made on behalf of anyone. When I went to their office they are saying my last employer could be probable suspect of issuing fake certificates, without any evidence. Will going legal against them would be a good option ?
I have every document need to prove the authenticity of my last employment. Even my last employer is MNC.

Write to them (preferably through registered post) that you have accepted the offer made by the company and expect to join the service on ...... and ask them why such offer has been cancelled. Depending on their written response you can proceed forward.
It is a tricky situation since you are not yet employed. However, the company should have verified all credentials before making the offer to you. If there is no suppression of facts, then you have good ground for claiming damages/ compensation etc. However, I do not think you will be able to claim the employment.

I have written mails to their legal head, Hr head and other people who have contacted me but unfortunately no body responded. I am not seeking employment after this however, if they can compensate me for my damage that would be it.

You can send a demand notice through registered post to the employer seeking compensation. However, I suggest that you consult a lawyer with all documents and let him draft the demand notice for you. Your situation is tricky, hence use of one word can go against you.

Have you already accepted their offer of employment in writing? If not, they have every right to rescind their offer. My guess is that someone at your ex-company or a friend who knows someone at your new company might have said negative things about you. Never, never tell anyone not even your spouse where you are going to work until you have joined them. You never know who might be jealous enough to try destroy your future. Some people enjoy boasting about a new job offer even before joining the company and this could backfire against them.
