Dear All,
I did a lot of survey for treatment of effluents in our factory and installed a plant.
While I was evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of various systems, one of our consultants mailed me the attached ppt on RO.
Attaching the same for the benefit of all.
Thanks & Regards,
Sudhir

Dear Sudhir,
Thanks to helping me to remind those things which i skipped (Classes) during my Mechanical Engg..
Just need to add few points:
Reverse Osmosis seems like a complex system it is really a simple and straight forward water filtration process. And it's not a new process. High-pressure (pump driven) reverse osmosis systems have been used for years to desalinate* water – to convert brackish or seawater to drinking water. Having a better understanding of how a reverse osmosis system works will eliminate the mystery and confusion you may feel when you look at a reverse osmosis system -- with its many colored tubes and multitude of filters.
The most important points to remember:
All RO Systems work the same way.
Most RO (Reverse Osmosis) systems look alike.
All RO Systems have the same basic components.
The real difference is the quality of the filters and membranes inside the RO.

A good presentation.I had installed 2 R.O. systems in 2 factory projects executed by me.Unfortunately many people do not understand usage of various systems available in market like softeners, filters,DM plants etc.

Guys,
Generally RO systems are expensive to install and operate,. Hence most companies prefer the conventional method of treating the effluents. Incase of treating sea water for desalination, where there is no option, i.e. the benefit of getting good water overweights the cost of RO process, this is followed.
However there are some other options too.
One has to evaluate the cost benefit aspects before deciding the method of treatment.
Best Regards,
