It is easy. There are case studies on HR available, in internet. Download them and ask your student to respond. Am surprised that you are a professor of HR and posing this question. Am an HR professional, a consultant, and also a trainer. I have started case study clubs for HR, marketing, sales and service personnel in several MBA schools. Creating as well as studying case studies is one way of learning the skills in a practical way. Best wishes

We used have weekly workshop like one period allocated every section of MBA-HRM/Strategic Management classes for case studies and problem solving on given situations. 3-4 groups are formed who are assigned exclusive few problems (which might include really happened in some well known enterprises and some imaginary issues) . The groups have to discuss among themselves the problems/challenges given and evolve possible, practical solutions and advance with their plan A, B & C and submit their recommendation and reasons for choosing which are to be legal, likely to be accepted by stake holders . A team of HOD, APs evaluate their recommendations and team leaders are asked to explain their strategies/present their cases and award points for best of them. This helped the students to understand various issues that a HR manager might face on day-to-day basis in work places and be a part of the problem and process of solving them effectively/efficiently & smartly as well, helping managements improve work environment paving way to attain desired results..
Further, every month experts from various enterprises are invited to share their experiences and open house for students to raise their questions & doubts apart from industrial visits once in every semester. I hope this is common in management studies.
