THE DONKEY

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbours to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer's neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon,

everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

MORAL :

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.

2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happen.

3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.

4. Give more.

5. Expect less

You have two choices...smile and close this page, or pass this along to someone else to spread the fun.

cool story!

its always nice to share morals with a few jokes. this is exactly what happens in organizations with highly competitive environments. being a summer trainee, this story taught me an important lesson: its this: if the entire organization shovels dirt on the hr department, better create a mound out of it and stand on it. show everyone that whatever anyone else in a company thinks, the hr department is here to help the others out. it would be great if you please pass the story around with this message i have just posted so that the others in an organization understand that no doubt, the HR guys are donkeys, but, it doesn't mean that they don't help anyone and it also does not mean that they are unforgiving or insensitive. if the donkey hadn't taken the mud slinging positively, it would have probably never gotten out of the well. so the lesson for hr professionals is that you better stand on the mud and get out the difficult situation than being stuck in the rut.

the author of this post is currently doing his summer training on instruments in hrd and od under Dr. Udai Pareek. for anyone who is thinking as to why an HR student would call himself as a donkey, please note that this student started calling himself as a donkey after he read this story
