Can any one clarify - whether an organisation can work inlieu of election paid holiday sureshkumar

Since it is a paid holiday, the same should not be compensated by working on any other day. But, few organizations are planning to compensate the same in lieu of the paid holiday.
In my organization, we are not compensating for the paid holiday.
