Hi all,
Our's is a electrical product design office and working for 8.30 hrs x 6 days/week now. Lunch break is 30 Minutes.
We are thinking of changing to 5 days a week now. It provides me more time in the evening to interact with our Europe offices.
Can we make 10 hrs per day x 5 days , keeping lunch break as 30 minutes (or) 11 hrs with 1 hr as lunch break?
I donot know whether lunch time included in weekly 48 working hours as per S&E act?
Please suggest.
thanks in advance.

Dear, Every State has its own shops & Establishment Act? Please refer to your concerned state S & E Act. Regards

Thanks Awvik. I missed to mention my state. It is Andhra pradesh.
To my understanding A.P S&E act mentions 48 hours as working hours per week.
Not clear about the lunch breaks in this.
can any one help?

If are able to go through the A P Shops Act then you can very well trace the provisions relating to working hour, spread over & lunch break etc.

No,
Working hours should not be more than 10 & half hours including spreadover. In your case 10 hours per day and half hour lunch break.but total working hours in a week 50 hours which is more than 2 hours(requirements 48 hours/week),you have to reduce the working hours by 9 & half hours working time & 1 hour lunch & tea time(30 minutes lunch & 15-15 minutes tea break in morning/evening),then total working hours 47.5 hours/week.On any one day you can do 30 minutes extra work & its become 48 hours/week by reducing lunch/tea break 30 minutes from 1 hours:
Example:
Monday : 9.30+ 1 hours(lunch/tea break)
Tuesday:9.30+ 1 hours(lunch/tea break)
Wed :9.30+ 1 hours(lunch/tea break)
Thru :9.30+ 1 hours(lunch/tea break)
Friday :10 hours+30 minutes (lunch break)
Total 48 hours in week.
