The Supreme Court in a recent case involving Karnataka Power Transmission Company has held that a Govt employee is entitled to an annual increment even if he is to retire on the next day. This remained a vexed question and the popular notion was to deprive the employee of the next increment although he is eligible but only because he is not serving the organisation the very next day after earning it. This would remove many a heartburn.
