Dear Rohan,
The definition of Aspect as per ISO 14001 is "organizations activities, products and Services that can interact with environment and those which have potential to interact with environment"
The Impact is effect of the aspects.
As per ISO 14001 one has to identify aspects of all activities, and evaluate its impacts. This has to be done considering Applicable Legal requirements.
Many companies follow SSPD analysis. and Give rating on some scale say 1 to 5
S - Scale of problem
S - Severity of Problem
P - Probability of Problem
D - Duration of Problem
The organisations give some cut off points beyond which the impact of a particular aspect is made SIGNIFICANT.
All adverse as well as beneficial Significant impacts are listed and those activities in adverse impact category and taken for Improvement which is popularly known as Environment Menegement Program. (EMP)
The aspects which govern by any legal requirements are essentially Significant.
For those Significant Impacts generating out of those aspects are either controlled by EMP and if in case there is no scope for any EMP than they have SOP (Standard Operating Procedure)
If you need any more information you may mail to me on .
However please give some imputs like products you manufacture, location, processes, and environmental issues in your plant.
Best of Luck
Thanks & Regards,
Sudhir
