I am a HR Manager for a small company. I handle every aspect of human resources from recruiting, performance management, coaching the directors, revising the employee handbook, payroll, benefits, training, 401k compliance, wellness champion and much much more. I really need help -I am stressed and I feel like I am drowning.
Any suggestions on how to put together a spreadsheet or business case for additional help (like a HR Assistant)?
Thanks!

My suggestion would be to ask instead for H R Software support. Compared to hiring an additional HR resource, which carries a recurring cost that is likely to increase every year.
Software systems like \'EmpXtrack\' are being preferred across the world by small & mid size companies. Primary reason for the same is managing within your budgets by investing in phases, yet automating all HR processes.
Choosing a technology solution in preference to a HR person is an option which caters for the turn over of the HR staff. Irrespective of who comes & goes, the system provides the desired continuity in managing HR. Also no additional HR resources are required even at a later date as the company employs more manpower.
Just visit EmpXtrack website to have a better understanding of using technology as a preferred option.

Dear sage59,
If you handle Performance Management even then also why are you facing the problem in manpower planning? To deliver "X" quantum of performance "'Y" quantum of manpower is required. This is the simple rule of assessing the manpower requirement.
What is your product or service? How many departments you have? Have you mapped the processes of each department? Have you identified each department's KPI? Have you identified the direct and indirect costs associated with each department? To keep the cost at certain level, what is the optimum manpower, have you done this exercise?
You need to provide sufficient information. Sans this information, it will not be feasible to give any suggestions.
Thanks,

During my tenure with L&T, at one point of time, I managed more than 400 folders of Supervisors and executives of our Business Unit. Instances were very few where my services to my colleagues, to management, and other stake-holders were found wanting. I utilised all that is possible with the help of modern day tools, by using the PC most effectively. In one excel workbook, each spreadsheet is used to be dedicated to one ambit of my activity. As and when an activity takes place, it is immediately recorded in the respective worksheet. Activities may relate to new employees joining, or releasing offer letters, or appointment letters, providing mobile phone expense eligibility etc etc. Whenever a report need to be submitted I go through the workbook and take out the information. Similarly, calendar is used effectively which can trigger reminders for actions to take place.

Nothing is imposible, if there is a will to do it. Think calmly, find ways and means of resolving the problem on hand instead of thinking of 'drowning' !!!!

Best wishes
