Hi, I am a private employee, works in a imitation jewelry manufacturing unit at Hyderabad. Lockdown started from March 23, 2020 and ended inthe mid of May 2020, during this period no salary paid, after opening of the lockdown till now factory has not opened and no clue, when it's going to open. Can anyone suggest , how an employee survive without any salary. What norms says for this kind of situation.

Hi Mukesh,
Factories are allowed to function, but not a mandate.
In this case factory might open nor not open and dues might get paid nor not paid as recent supreme court order says it's not a compulsory.
My advice would be search for another job, get your dues cleared in the meanwhile.

Hi Dinish,
Thanks for the reply, I agree Apex court said no work no pay, recently it said, The Supreme Court on Friday
In one it directed the Centre and the states not to take any coercive action till July end against private companies which have not paid full wages to their employees during the coronavirus lockdown.
What does this mean, totally avoid pay, or partially pay what exactly is this and you referring as dues, what exactly is this.
There are around 30 employees and their families involved in This, what they have to eat,and what they will feed their families.
Please suggest.

True Mukesh, it's the same everywhere.
All that we can do in this period is wait & watch as we cannot fight against the current org. as well as search a new one until the current employer takes a call on the reopening date.
I advice you to see if any of the govt. schemes can help likely PF withdrawal, that can help you to sustain the crsis.
But one thing - next time when you choose a company choose wise!
