Such atrocities will not happen in an industry where an active Union of workers is available. But I don't understand what is your role as a Union? It may be due to various reasons, like, the members are silent members, they fear that if they raise an industrial dispute, they will be blacklisted by the association of employers, that they will not get another employment if they lose one, the leaders of the Union are not powerful enough to raise the demands or escalate the grievances of the members, and so on. It is not that the Managements of the companies are unaware of the law. They also know very well that they are suppose to employ them only for a maximum of 48 hours a week. Let it be 5 days or 6 days a week. By asking the employees to do overtime, they do save money by way of employing at least a few more employees. They know that nobody will question it because the Union is inactive. If the Union becomes active, then they have another weapon, that is closing the unit or shifting it to some other place, or transferring the employees to very remote areas. More than that, there is a feeling that the public policy of the government to promote investment and ease of doing business will help them to do the business as they wish. In a country where the economic development is measured by means of investments made by private capitalists, ease of doing business only means increasing profits at the cost of labour. Therefore, wherever labour is cheap and labour law enforcement officers are blind, the investment will be made by them. Once any Officer opens his eyes, then the employer will move to another area where the officers are sleeping. If the Union shouts at them, then they may wake up. But you should have the courage to shout, with a backing of employees behind you. Can you do it?

Sir/Madam, Management desires that some senior employee leave the company and recruit new employee at lower cost or as trainees and reduce labour cost . that is the main reason.
