Dear somashree,
Doing PHD is very good if you are focused to build a career in teaching.
For Doing PHD you need to register with a guide. Guide should be auhorised by the university. O discussion with guide decide on any of the topic which is relevant.
You have to write a synopsis and submit to the university.
On acceptance yo have to write an entrance exam. This is only an initial part.
I suggest if you have a good degree in management join any of the MBA college as lecturer and work for 2-3 years. In case you are good college will sponser for your PHD.
Else you can do as part time working still in the college. you will get good contacts with University members also.

One advise to you - please be careful not to join colleges/Deemed universities which do not have recogniton. Before joining meet up with students who are already studying & see how many years it takes to complete. Else your efforts will go waste.
