Dear Friends,
Need some advice on the procedure to hire an expatriate to work in Mumbai, India. Our company is a MNC and we have a plant and office in Mumbai. We plan to get in an expatriate to work with us as a Project Engineer (permanent basis) in Mumbai.
1. What are the procedures to apply for working permit and where can I can the detail procedures.
2. How will be the tax or other lawful deduction for expatriates.
Much appreciate if anyone can explain to me in detail and I can work on this. BTW, I am the HR Manager from Malaysia thats why I am not aware of the procedures in India. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello Vijayash,
PFA some FAQ inputs reg your query.
You can visit the website mentioned in the Attachment.
Also, pl go thru the Point 5(iv) carefully--recently we had an instance where a lot of effort to hire a foreigner went for a toss because the company failed to see this fine-print.
BTW, which sector is your company into?
All the Best.
