Hi Everyone

Please help me with my query: One employee has 50,000 Basic per month and the PF deduction is maximum of Rs. 1800 (based on mandatory limit of 15000).
This employee has joined us on 16th day of the month, so his pay days will be 15 days
His basic for this month will be 25000
Then Employee PF deduction for the month should be:
(1800/30)*15 days = 900 or 1800 full.
The PF deduction should be on pro rata basis as per the total number of days worked or should be on the basis of Basic and allowances irrespective of the days worked?

Dear Neha San,

As per your query PF deduction will be calculate on paid days .

If Employee paid days is 15 then PF contribution will be 900 as per calculation you shared .
1800/30)*15 days = 900

Thanks

As per EPF Act 1952, PF contribution is payable on the actual salary earned @ 12% subject to a ceiling of Rs. 15000/-. Since the actual salary of the month has exceeded Rs. 15,000/- contribution of Rs. 1800/- has to be remitted. Any wilful default in this carries penalty, interest, and even criminal prosecution. So, it is a serious matter.
