The ESI deduction is on the basic HRA, CONV, and other allowances of the employees and is 1.75%. The employer contribution is 4.75% of the gross salary of the employee. When you remit the amount through the challan, it has to be rounded off to the rupee. The round-off should be done by adding the difference of paisa in the employer contribution. For PF, it is 12% of the employee's basic. However, the employer contribution is limited to Rs. 6,500/- basic. In the case of the employee covered under CTC, the deduction and contribution should be equal. The administrative charges, EDLI contribution, and admin on EDLI contribution are paid by the employer.

Hi,

This is Renganayaki. I am going to field work in this area, so I will share some key points:

On ESI:
- Employee contribution: 1.75%
- Employer contribution: 4.75%

On PF:
- Employee contribution: 12% (basic+DA)
- Employer contribution: 12%
In this contribution, 8.33% goes to the Employee Pension Scheme, and only 3.67% goes to PF. So, the total PF contribution is 15.67%.
