Hi,
Can anyone tell me the features of the 'Group Mediclaim Insurance Policy' of National Insurance Company Ltd? Because I couldn't find it on their site. Please tell me who all are covered, age limitations if any, illnesses excluded from the policy, etc. At least, let me know where I can get this information.
Regards,
Deepthi

Dear Deepthi,
A Group Mediclaim policy is taken for an employee with 2/3 dependents (father/mother/spouse/kids). Most often, we have insurance broking companies that help HR personnel to obtain Group Mediclaim Policy. Check out with regard to that in your hometown. Everyone is covered under the group mediclaim policy, and there is no age limitation. The coverage in the policy depends on the value and the insurance providers. In case you are in Chennai, I can suggest third parties who are involved in these types of activities. With regard to other locations, I am sorry, I don't have that information.

Lavanya :)

Deepthi,
I took a quote for 100 employees a few months back. All critical illnesses including pregnancy/cataract are covered on day one. The premium was approximately 3000/- per annum for a family of 5 people.
I know one employee of New India Assurance from whom we took the policy, namely Vivek Gupta, 9810348234.

Group mediclaim policy can be taken for employees, or a floater policy can be chosen to include family members. The premium depends on the sum insured and the age of the member. There is no need to contact broking agents; you can directly call the company and ask them to explain all the features of the policy. Some companies offer to accept pre-existing illnesses, while some do not. It is advisable to negotiate with the insurance company. Instead of PSU, I would suggest contacting private insurance companies that provide lower quotes, better service, and faster claim settlement. Public sector insurance companies like Oriental, New India, and National are not known for their prompt service.

Dear friend,
As Mrs. Deshmukh mentioned, PSUs like United India Assurance or Oriental Insurance companies may not be prompt in service, but certainly don't charge you more than private companies. However, please remember PSUs settle 99% of mediclaim, whereas private companies cannot boast of such claim settlement.
Does it make any sense to have good service at the time of taking out a mediclaim policy but get your claim repudiated when it actually comes to the real part of service?
Moreover, group mediclaim does not involve individual assessment of health risk but is dependent upon the group size, the age distribution of the group, occupational or other hazards commonly experienced by the group, and so on. So, the larger the group, the premium to be paid will substantially be lesser. Also, remember, PSUs do not charge a premium to make huge profits out of their policies but they charge only to the extent of meeting out probable mediclaim that may arise. Private insurance companies are business units meant for profit-making, so just beware.

Another thing, you need not pay any commission to the brokers/agent. He is paid by the insurance company.

Hi, pls check the attachemnts for national medicliam policy and personal acccidental policy for employees. hope it will be useful to u . thanx ruchi
My suggestion is that you can contact the insurance companies rather than third parties. We have our policies with Bajaj Allianz, who are providing excellent services. We were with National Insurance and had a bad experience with every claim. Bajaj is offering 24-hour service for us. I can help out with any further details.

Brokers are not paid by the client. They receive commissions from the insurance companies. Since they work with various insurance companies, you can obtain good rates from them, Kalpana. Additionally, claim processing is faster when a broker is involved because they can exert pressure on the Third Party Administrator (TPA) to expedite the process.

Hello,
Can anybody send me a detailed comparison of insurance companies providing mediclaim group policies? Our company is looking for the best mediclaim group policy. It is very difficult for me to get an analysis. Please also let me know on which benefits I can negotiate with insurance companies.

Hi All, What are the advantages of tying up with an insurance company for a group mediclaim policy as compared to managing it internally by the organization itself?

Well, you're wrong there. PSU insurers are a better bet than those money-grabbing private insurers who never settle a full claim, especially when the amount is significant (more than a lakh rupees). Plus, the claim settlement ratios of PSU insurers are way better than the private companies.
By the way, from your arguments, it seems like you work for a private insurer!! :-P

Hi Deepthi,
To answer your question, one should have a good knowledge of insurance. However, I can't recommend one good online tool that might help you out. For further inquiries, you can contact their customer care center as well.
