First, you have to identify the required level of competencies for each role. Then, rate the actual level of competencies for each role. The outcome of these two exercises will generate a competency gap. It's this gap you have to address or recommend for training. Thanks Shijit...Have got clarity on the subject now. Also I am little confused with the two terms "Competency" and "Skill"....Could u clarify the difference between the two. Thanks seema

Hi Seema,

Competency is a combination of three different attributes (Attitude, Skill, and Knowledge - ASK). When you talk about competency, you are referring to somebody's quality of being adequate for the required task. If the person doesn't qualify to be competent, then you look into ASK attributes and work on them by training, counseling, or coaching.
