Hi Friends,
I am sure you are all waiting eagerly to know what happened in the Second citehr Meet at Bangalore. I sincerely regret for the delay in posting the same. More than anybody, I am sure my friends at Bangalore who attended the meet and also those friends who did not make it to the meet due to personal reasons are anxiously waiting to know what was discussed during the meet. I really don't want to keep guessing! Here is the report.
Though as many as 30 plus friends registered for the meet, finally 17 people landed for the meet thus upgrading from DARING DOZEN to SWEET SEVENTEEN! Again the Rain God spoiled the party by making the registered friends decide against going for the meet!
Many new people turned up for the meet due to efforts from Mr. Siddeshwar and Mr. Amruth Kumar. Though this was our Second Meet, this time we drew the schedule for that meet and the forthcoming meet, allotting specific time for each item of the meeting. This was proposed by Mr. Kurien and everybody agreed to the same.
Srinaren proposed the name of Mr. Rajaram to become the Moderator for the day's meet. Mr. Rajaram spoke at length regarding meeting every month and discussing some useful topics for the benefit of the HR Community.
Since many were new, Mr. Rajaram wanted everybody to introduce themselves at length so that one can remember them well. But it was really a difficult thing to remember all the new faces by their name. Mr. Amruth Kumar, Great Scope, a trainer by profession, came immediately to the rescue of the members by suggesting to play a simple game so that everybody remembers everybody's names easily. He was so confident that everybody would come out successful! Everybody agreed with the proposal. I am sure you are also waiting to know what the game was!
Well, Amruth shuffled a few people from their original places and told Rekha to start the introduction. After her, the person sitting next will tell Rekha's name and then his/her name and introduce herself/himself. The next person will tell Rekha's name, the second person's name, his name, and his introduction! This procedure goes on. The last person, Siddeshwar, was fortunate enough to tell the names of 16 members! The game was a big success, and everybody knew everybody's name!
Though we wanted to have a discussion on a few topics, due to lack of time, we could discuss only two topics. The first topic raised was - How to retain employees for a minimum of 3 years? This was put across the board by Siddeshwar.
The discussion was started by Rekha, our Fire Brand Member! Under the present circumstances, it is very difficult to retain a person for 3 years! 3 years will be a very long time as the opportunities are aplenty! For a person to stick to his job, it is not only the salary or perks; even the atmosphere, the colleagues, the avenues for growth, job satisfaction, all will play an important role. Unless all these are there and last but not least, recognition has to be there. Even with proper management's decisions and actions, if we can retain an employee for one year, we should feel good!
A discussion was started by Mr. Kurien in the last meeting that H.R. should not be Human Resources as Resources are something different, which is only to be quantified! Joining in the discussion was Col. Rajaram, our new member in the forum who agreed with the same and told R should represent Relations and not Resources. Many of the members agreed with the argument, and everybody understood that it is the relations with the employees that can do wonders for the organization. That means, the HR people should start thinking that only the relationship with the employees will help in achieving the goal and vision of the organization.
Mr. Kurien lastly promised that he will screen a movie on motivation in the next meeting scheduled for November 12.
The Moderator, Mr. Rajaram, concluded the meeting by choosing the moderator for the next meet, and that was Mr. Kiran Kumar.
Afterward, it was Chilli bhajjies, Maddur vada, and Pakoras that tickled the taste buds of members in the rainy evening. Hope that was the grand finale!
Then it was the photo session! I am sure you are all waiting for the snaps. No more waiting. Here it is.......

Good job done Bangalore!
Hey, can we have a write-up on the precepts of the discussion? It would help us learn from the wise words, even if we are miles away! I believe many other Cite members would have the same request.
Congrats once again. (Cite Contribution)

Hi Shubha,
Thanks for deciding to attend all future meetings. You will have a clear one-month time period. When scheduling any programs, please remember the CiteHR meeting day! As a consequence for not attending the second meeting, you are required to bring at least 5 of your friends to the next meeting! Is that acceptable?

Hi Cite Contribution,
After a long silence, you are back in action! It's great! Thank you very much for your encouraging words. We will try to put the details of the meet. I made it short because taking the clue, somebody may post a topic for discussion so that the matter widens. As I have been very busy with my work for the last month, I request somebody who attended the meet to post the discussions in detail so that we can have the views of the members.
The most important issue was whether we have to call HR Human Resources or Human Relationships. As I am writing this, a strong urge in me says I should post this as a new thread for discussion. Please do participate in the discussion.

Hi Team HR,
Thanks to Srinaren and Sidhu for the lovely postings of the pics!
Today, I heard of a new designation - HUMAN RELATIONS-BUILDER. Does this not align with the changes required in our portfolio building, which is consistent with the actual work HR really does? Is it time to make our announcements about our next date and see the HR build-up? Looking forward to round three!

Hi Friends,
When is the next HR Meet at Bangalore? Can anyone attend this session, or do only the higher management need to attend? Can an HR Executive at the Junior Level attend these events? If so, how do we get the notifications?
I am interested in attending these events.
Thanks
