Hello Everybody,
Sorry for not being in touch for a long time. I am working on my project "Benchmarking of Recruitment Process" for Honeywell Pune. I know that I may have to visit quite a number of companies for this. However, I am struggling to create a flow chart of my process. Can anyone help me out and suggest the steps I should take to start and end this project successfully? Even if someone doesn't know the proper way, they can still share their feelings or ideas about the project.

Hello,
Hope this helps:
Start by identifying and understanding your own recruitment processes. Divide the recruitment process into logical steps - for instance, you first identify that people have to be recruited (which department, what kind of people, education qualification, etc.), then you decide how you want to recruit, etc. So identify the sequence and map it out.
Now map each variable in the sequence. That will make up your questionnaire as to what you want to benchmark. Some examples of questions could be:
a. Time taken between identifying recruitment need and placing an ad in the newspaper.
b. Method of recruitment (Ads, Placement agencies, campus placements, etc.).
Based on the above, you could further pinpoint some more areas to put into the questionnaire.
After your questionnaire is ready, identify the companies you'd like to benchmark with. Give calls, fix appointments, and collect information.
Do your data analysis, make reports, benchmark, and give recommendations.
Some words of caution:
1. Try as much as possible to get quantifiable information. Qualitative information is more difficult to benchmark.
2. Have a sizeable number of companies covered - too small will be ineffective - unless the sector you are covering has few companies. Your statistical analysis could get skewed if the sample number of companies is too small.
3. Add an error margin - a few companies will give you appointments and not be willing to answer all questions. So if you want a sample of say 15 companies, fix appointments with at least 18 to 19 companies.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Hello, I have also completed my summer training project on benchmarking in recruitment, and I am sharing it with you. I hope this will be helpful for you.
1. First, map the entire recruitment process in the organization. Determine the lead time involved in each step, from manpower planning to candidate placement. Then, analyze the communication flow between departments. You can also suggest ideas to reduce lead time if possible.
2. Next, prepare a questionnaire and schedule appointments with the companies you wish to benchmark. Analyze the information you gather and conduct a comparative analysis.
3. Collect advertisements from different companies that you are benchmarking with. Then, draw conclusions and make recommendations.
I hope this information proves useful to you. Best of luck!
