Respected All,
I have just completed the 'Executive Diploma in HRM' from Nirma University. I have approximately 10+ years of experience in a semi HR role at a managerial level. I now wish to pursue further studies in the field of HR.
Since I am currently employed full-time, please advise me on whether I should pursue an MBA with HRM specialization from Sikkim Manipal, ICFAI, or IGNOU. Does this degree hold value? Will I be able to secure a core HR position upon completion?
I also seek guidance on whether Post Graduate Diplomas in HRM (Distance Learning) awarded by Narsee Monjee or Symbiosis are equivalent to an MBA. I kindly request seniors to offer insight into my future career prospects.
Regards,
Himanshu

Hi,
Sorry for the delay! You have great experience (10 years), so I don't think I can suggest to you, but let me share my opinion. You have to decide the course based on your objectives. ICFAI, IGNOU, and Symbiosis are all very good and have international validity, but in the first two universities, the pass percentage is very low, approximately 12% only. If you are considering entering the manufacturing industry, think about diplomas relating to labor laws.
Thanks and Regards,
Harry

Hi Harry,
Thank you very much for your valuable guidance. In fact, I am currently in a semi HR function that supports marketing, so I would like to transition into Marketing HR.
With 12% passouts, did you refer to 'Distance learning'? As I can't go for full-time studies now. I have to either pursue a Distance learning course or opt for some sort of weekend/Sunday courses, for which the options are limited.
I wanted to know whether the Distance learning MBA degree from ICFAI, Sikkim Manipal, or Ignou holds value? Or does a PG Diploma in HRM from Narsee Monjee or Symbiosis carry more brand value? Please advise further.
Thanks once again for your response. You are one who at least responded to my requests. I am indebted.
Thanks again.
Himanshu

Dear Friends,
I am a citeHR member. I hold a diploma in Electronic and Communication Engineering. I have been working in a managerial role for the past 10 years. However, my career growth is limited due to my qualifications. I am interested in pursuing an MBA through distance learning without obtaining a BBA degree first. Are there any universities that would consider my experience for this?
Please advise me.
Thanks,
Murugan

Hi Himanshu!
I was talking about distance mode only. ICFAI and IGNOU both have a different kind of examination system, which is not that usual. For that reason, the pass percentage is between 12 to 16% only. You can definitely go for Symbiosis diploma. I strongly recommend not to go for Sikkim Manipal.
Hi Murugan,
There are very few universities that offer PG without asking for a bachelor's degree. There is one Rajasthan-based university; I don't remember the name exactly. That university used to offer PG with a lateral entry concept. Let me find out; if I get it, I will let you know.
Thanks and Regards,
