Hi Sir,

Kindly suggest, if a person is working with a job portal in the position of client servicing where she trains people on how to search CVs, call candidates, conduct interviews, and finally place them, how can she transition into a general HR profile?

Hello,

For a generalist profile, you need to enter a job where, along with recruitment, you can handle other HR functions as well. Perhaps starting in a small company where recruitment is the primary focus along with other functions would be beneficial. By gaining experience and learning in this environment, you can transition into a generalist HR role. Additionally, consider pursuing a HR diploma or degree alongside your work, as it will be beneficial for your career development.

Anurag, generalistic HR is a profile where you must have knowledge in all HR functions. Basically, HR has 5 basic points covered:

1. Organization & Design
2. Compensation and Benefits
3. Training & Development
4. Communication & Involvement
5. Health, Safety & Environment.

I do come across people with minimal basics in HR; they do have experience in sourcing candidates and want to transition into generalist HR. From a recruiter's perspective, you should have patience and be willing to learn to enter this profile.
