Dear Priyanka,
The role of an HR during a recession carries vital responsibilities in the following areas.
1. Talent retention - He should be responsible for retaining the talent of the organization since talent acquisition at this point in time is challenging.
2. Motivation & Morale - The HR is responsible for keeping the morale of the employees high and positive since during a recession, employees will be highly focused on their job security.
3. Cost-effectiveness - The HR is also responsible for managing the organization's costs related to human capital. He should have a clear understanding of the costs involved in talent development and improvement and should act in a way that minimizes the expenses incurred in manpower development.
4. Communication - HR is supposed to act as a bridge between the organization and the employees, keeping the employees well-informed about the organization's strategies and plans to overcome challenges, and involving employees in the strategy.
These are a few roles that HR would have during a recession period. I hope the forum will have more discussions on this topic since there may be other roles that have been overlooked.

Hello Priyanka,
With reference to your question, I would like to share what my boss addressed during a presentation: "THIS IS A TESTING PHASE FOR ALL HR COMPANIES. THIS IS THE TIME WHEN QUALITY CAN BE PROVIDED AND ACQUIRED."
Regarding you being a student, I would recommend studying the entire HR cycle first for a better understanding of the HR industry.
