Dear All,

I'm looking for a video clip or movie emphasizing on team and interpersonal communication that could be played in a training workshop. It should have a strong focus on different takeaways. Kindly suggest some movie names or clips.

Regards,
Srini

Dear Srini,

The movie "Chak De! India" starring Shah Rukh Khan is a great film focusing on team building. Similarly, the English movie "Miracle" also imparts valuable lessons on teamwork.

Hi,
Felt I needed to help since you guys have helped me in the past.
1. Remember the Titans (A)

Plot Outline:
The true story of a newly appointed African-American coach and his mixed-race high school team on their first season as a racially integrated unit.

On the DVD, go to Scene 9 on the DVD, Bertier & Big Ju, where white and black teammates Gerry (pronounced “Gary”) Bertier and Julius, “Big Ju”, begin a heated conversation under the guise of getting to know each other.

2. Bug's Life, A (Leadership is Responsibility)

Near the beginning of the movie the ants have left food for the grasshoppers on a rock, but the food gets knocked off the mound.

Start the clip with the ants huddled underground and the grasshoppers land. The grasshoppers get upset because the food is not there. They break into the underground. Hopper, the head grasshopper’s statement is great for pointing out that leaders are always at fault and need to take responsibility.

Idea by Sean Hart

3. Saving Private Ryan

This is a really heavy movie - very gory, but a realistic portrait of war. The storyline is about a soldier named Private Ryan whose brothers have all been killed. The government recognizes this and decides to pull him from duty before having to send him home to his mom in a body bag too. So Tom Hanks is commissioned with a crew of guys to get Private Ryan (Matt Damon) out safely. They go through horrible stuff and lose several men. Good clips on sacrificing personal gain for the good of the team.
Hope this helps.

Hi Sriniwasan,

Please check these video clips on YouTube that explain the importance of teamwork in a very simplified way:

- [YouTube - Teamwork](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xk3CtrFJJ20)
- [YouTube - Team Work - Birds or People? Find Out](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jF80RqLkl6E&feature=related)

'IItalian Job' is a good movie on this concept. If the facilitator could craft a brilliant debrief, it could be an excellent resource.

Please share your comments on this.
