Hi friends, I'm a new member on this forum. I'm a 3rd-semester student and still doing my training in an I.T. company, looking after the recruitment process. My project is on recruitment selection. Here, the recruitment takes place through a registered portal, which I feel is not effective because most of the time candidates are not appropriate for the position. However, I managed to get one candidate, but I think resumes don't show the true picture. Can anybody send me the project report on Recruitment & Selection? Senior members, please help me out. What suggestions should I write in my report? Please help me regarding the project. You all can send it to my email id.

Hi Neha,

While using job portals, you need to put your selection criteria or keywords very specifically. Also, always select new and updated resumes.

Apart from searching through job sites, you can send bulk emails to all candidates searched. Also, use employee referrals, advertisements in newspapers and on job sites, use recruitment consultants' services, your own contacts, etc. Headhunting or cold-calling may also be used.

The source you use depends on the cost incurred on it, the position in the organization (e.g., junior, manager, senior manager, etc.), and the urgency of the position to be filled.

Every organization has its own recruitment and selection procedures and processes. It depends upon the size of the company, business, manpower requirements, and many other factors.

The following process of recruitment and selection is followed by every company:

Recruitment refers to the process of searching for and appointing prospective candidates in an organization. An organization must undertake the recruitment procedure if it wants to appoint the right people under its employment.

There are many methods of recruitment that can be used by an organization. These include:

1. Internal Recruitment: Vacancies are filled with people from within the organization.

2. Direct Recruitment: Candidates are screened and shortlisted directly from institutes, also called Campus Recruitment.

3. Indirect Recruitment: Vacancies are advertised in newspapers and other media such as television, internet, etc.

4. Placement Consultants: Companies give their manpower requirements to placement and recruitment consultants who undertake the job of identifying suitable candidates for the company. It may include notification to employment exchanges, etc.

5. Present Employees: May suggest their friends or acquaintances to fill a particular position.

Selection refers to the task of choosing or picking suitable candidates by first asking for and gaining access to useful information about the candidate.

Indian private sector companies may undertake the selection process themselves or outsource the job to a third party. The government and public sector may select through bodies such as the Union Public Service Commission, Banking Service Recruitment Boards, etc.

In order to get selected for a position, job seekers have to go through and clear a number of procedures including written tests, screening, group discussions, interviews, reference checks, etc.

You can also follow this process and procedure for making your project on that company where you are presently doing training.

@viibha, "reason for the continuous production decrease" - for what specific industry is this? Because production is relative to the demand. When the demand increases, production also increases. If demand decreases, production also decreases.

Generally, it involves buying behavior and purchasing power. So, I would suggest you start reviewing basic economics, especially on supply and demand. Then, work on buying behaviors and information related to purchasing power since all of which affects the production of certain products in the long run.
