Hi,
What exactly do you need to know? Kindly clarify. Basically, if you are going for an interview for a Payroll position, then you must know about statutory requirements such as PF, ESIC, PT. You should be aware of how to make challans, when the half-yearly and yearly returns are to be filed, eligibility criteria for PF, ESIC, as well as the basics of the Bonus and Gratuity Act. It is also important to understand the applicable acts, which means understanding the specific acts relevant to the company where you will be interviewing (Factory Act, Shop & Establishment Act, etc.).
An additional advantage would be knowledge of tax and filing of ETDS returns. If there are any other specific requirements, please write to me or email me at harshadt@icsinfra.com.

Hi, it's time to cheer up! Understand the basics of PF, ESI, gratuity, leave encashment, types of leaves, and leave encashment formula, etc. If you need further details on the above topics, feel free to ask. If you are already familiar with them, keep it up! Cheers and all the best for your interview.
Remember a few tips for the interview:
- Dress formally and be neat, with tidy hair and clean nails.
- Avoid sitting with crossed legs in front of the interviewer.
- Be confident (it's not like school where you might get scolded for a wrong answer).
- Present yourself in the best manner possible.
- Stay positive, and if you don't know something, admit it politely.
- Maintain good eye contact.
- If there are multiple interviewers, remember to greet each one.
- Engage with everyone present to show your confidence.
Let me know how your interview goes. Take care, boost your confidence, go in with a positive attitude, and I am sure you will succeed.
All the best,

For all who are seeking payroll interviews,
First of all, you should be aware of present statutory compliances. For example, the ESI eligibility limit has been increased to 15000/month, DA to 35%, and so on. You should also be aware of filing TDS, ESI challan, etc. Along with that, you should know the 4 conditions of PF contribution when basic+DA crosses 6500/month. You should also know what components contribute to OT, PT, ESI, HRA. For example, in your salary, the basic is calculated towards HRA, but in the case of TDS, BASIC+DA+Fixed % of commitment on turnover takes contribution. In ESI, OT contributes, and so on.
In payroll processing, employee attendance data is of extreme importance as salary gets affected by attendance, like LWP/OT. In the case of OT, different companies give compensation in different ways, like double pay or extra off. In the case of attendance, many companies use time management software so direct attendance gets in payroll software. If you are using payroll software, you should specify all the formulas correctly. Maybe your company has a different policy for different branches. You should give correct entries towards paid leaves, standing instructions, loan and advance deductions, etc.
During a payroll interview, you are mostly asked about statutory compliances, the importance of payroll HR, the difference between a payslip and payroll, and also the act of payment duration. Even if you have doubts, I can send payroll interview questions and topics.
