Hi all,
I'm working as a S/W Engineer (Developer) in a reputed MNC with a job experience of 1.5 years. Since I'm more inclined towards HR-related jobs, I've decided to do an Executive MBA in HR. I have a few doubts regarding this:
1. How helpful would it be if I do an Executive MBA? I hope it's better than distance learning. Please don't suggest I do a full-time MBA since I have no intentions of quitting my job.
2. Since I have a job experience of 1.5 years in the development field, once I do an Executive MBA in HR, I will be a fresher in the HR field. So, will this 1.5 years of work experience be a waste?
3. I've heard that an Executive MBA is for those people who want to do an MBA in the same field as what they're working in. Since I'm working as a software engineer (developer) and I'm choosing HR as a subject, will it make any sense to do this course?
4. I want some names of B-Schools that are reputed in Executive MBA.
Please reply to me as soon as possible. It's urgent.

What is the total number of years in the workforce?
1. How helpful would it be if I do an Executive MBA?
Executive MBA programs in the US usually require at least 8 years of work experience, and the students keep their day jobs. The average age of the 40 students in my Executive MBA class was 38 years.
I hope it's better than distance learning. Please don't suggest me to do a full-time MBA since I have no intentions of quitting my job.
Executive MBA programs are designed for working managers.

It may not be enough to get you into an Executive MBA program.

In the US, Executive MBA programs are, for the most part, a general management program—no specialization since students are already well into their chosen professional career.

Hello,
Executive MBA programs can range from 6 months to one year in duration and are offered by all IIMs, XLRI, Jamnalal Bajaj, Narsee Monjee, MDI, and many other B-schools like Welingkar/SP Jain in Mumbai.
The course is primarily designed for working professionals who wish to take a break and pursue further education. Many participants have reported that the course is beneficial and has helped them secure good job opportunities.
I am also looking to enroll in the course at one of the IIMs.
Keep an eye out for newspaper advertisements and consider visiting the IIM website for more information.
Best Wishes, Venkatesh Ramanujam
