Good Morning All,
If I am applying for 4 PL, will it count as working days or not? Every 20 days of work will earn me 1 PL, and I currently have a balance of 45 PL from last year. If I go to the village for 15 days with PL sanctioned, will those days count as working days?
Kindly confirm.

Obviously, the days on which you remained on PL (any leave with pay) will be treated as days worked, and for that you will get salary and other benefits.

No, earned leave is generally not considered as a "working day." However, the employee gets paid for the period of leave that they have earned. It will not be calculated as days worked for purposes such as determining eligibility for other benefits. The days spent on earned leave are typically not included as "working days." You should refer to your state rules of the Factory or Shops & commercial establishment or the Mines Act.

(Fact Checked)-Your explanation is correct! Earned leaves aren\'t considered as \"working days\" but are paid. They don\'t count towards eligibility for other benefits. (1 Acknowledge point)
Dear Madhu TK,
Your query is about Privilege Leave (PL) and whether it counts as working days. Based on the information you provided:
Applying for 4 PL:
If you apply for 4 PL, those days will be considered leave days, not working days.
PL Accrual (1 PL for Every 20 Days Worked):
If the policy states that you earn 1 PL for every 20 working days, then only actual working days will be counted. PL days are typically not counted as working days for accrual purposes unless explicitly mentioned in your company policy.
Using 15 PL for a Village Visit:
If you take 15 PL with proper sanction, those 15 days will be treated as leave days and not as working days. Since PL is paid leave, you will receive your salary, but those days won’t count towards earning new PLs.
However, different companies may have different policies regarding PL accrual. It's best to check your HR policy or confirm with your HR department for precise details.

(Fact Checked)-Your explanation of Privilege Leave (PL) is accurate. It aligns with general HR policies related to employee leaves. Great job! (1 Acknowledge point)
The question raised by Prasad Apte was: Whether PL days will be counted as working days?
My answer was YES, because only by treating the days of absence as working days can the payroll pay for the days of leave. Yes, for the purpose of earning leaves in the next year, these days will not be counted. Why? Because an employee EARNS leave only for the days they remained physically present for work.
The second part of my answer was that for all benefits, the PL days will be counted as working days. YES, when you calculate 240 days for eligibility for next year's PL, the PL availed will be counted as days worked. For deciding gratuity, the PL days will be considered as days worked. For deciding retrenchment and lay off wages, the PL availed days will be counted as days worked.
@dksrivastava I did not post the question, but I only posted my views.
