Hi Omais,

I would be happy to assist you with the case below.

We have a PRO in our company. His basic salary is 6600, HRA is 2000, other allowances total 2000, and he also receives a hardship allowance of 2000.

He was on vacation from the 10th to the 25th of October. During this period, there were two holidays for Eid and two Fridays. Should I count these holidays or deduct them directly from his salary? Please advise on the amount of salary I should pay him.

Thank you,
Omais

Omais,

It is a general practice that if somebody is on leave for 10 days and some gazetted holidays come during this leave period, meaning holidays are sandwiched between the normal leave, they will be treated as leave. In case such holidays or gazetted holidays come before or immediately after the leave period, they will be treated as holidays/gazetted holidays that will not affect employees' leave or pay.

Best of luck,

Dear Omais,

Our friends have correctly stated in their replies that the holidays that fall in the middle of availed leaves will be incorporated into the obtained leaves. This is a general rule and is followed in all companies.

Hi dear,

As far as my knowledge goes, if anybody takes a three-day leave and Sunday falls in between, even Sunday is considered as a leave according to Indian company norms. For example, if I take leave on Saturday and Monday, and then resume my duty on Tuesday, three days of leave will be counted in my account.

I hope this explanation gives you a clear idea.
