Good Day! I am a Mumbai-based Micro Enterprise in Marine Repairs just restarting after the pandemic and 2nd bout of Cancer. Kindly advise the following:
1. What area would constitute as "Outstation"?
2. Currently have no employees on rolls.. want to keep all staff on "Contract" for 2 years with a probationary period of 6 months - is that legally acceptable?
Thanks in advance.

Dear Sandy,
You can consider the area beyond Mumbai Municipality Corporation (Urban Mumbai) as outstation. In general, a remote or outlying station is a roughly far-off point from your place that can't be reached by a call and takes a substantial time to reach, over 6 hours.
You can keep all staff on "Contract" for 2 years with a probationary period of 6 months, having no legal issues, but the terms of appointment should be well defined without ambiguity.
