Hi , I need to inquire I am in a Non profit organization where we all are retainers, Need to know the maternity leave applicable to us is 6 months or not.

As Rightly mentioned by Madhu Sir, if you are an employee you are entitled for Maternity Benefits, otherwise not. In Aga Khan foundation I have seen employees getting Maternity Benefits

What does "retainer" mean? Are they employees or promoters? If they are salaried persons, are they eligible for all the benefits granted under the Shops & Commercial Establishment Act and Rules of your state? The maternity leave entitlement is 26 weeks.
